Battery life, charging, cleaning, and the design choices behind WarmByte.
Battery life depends on your chosen temperature. At a continuous 80°C (the highest setting), a full charge lasts approximately 2 hours. At the lower settings between 30°C and 70°C, you can expect 4 or more hours, depending on exactly which temperature you choose — lower settings draw less power and run longer. If you need heating for a longer stretch, choosing a moderate setting like 50–60°C rather than the maximum 80°C will get you noticeably more runtime.
This is a deliberate safety design choice, not an oversight. WarmByte actively heats the food inside it — if the container were fully sealed like a vacuum flask, the heat would build up pressure inside a closed space with nowhere to go, which could damage the unit or cause a mess when opened. Leaving it unsealed lets that pressure equalize safely. In short: WarmByte is built to heat safely every day, not to be shaken, tipped upside down, or treated like a sealed liquid flask.
WarmByte charges via any standard USB-C cable and power source — a wall adapter, laptop port, or power bank. We recommend giving it a full charge before first use so you get accurate runtime from the start.
The stainless steel tray lifts out and is fully dishwasher-safe for easy cleaning. Simply remove the tray after use and wash as you would any dishwasher-safe container. The base, lid, and control panel (which house the battery and heating electronics) should not be submerged in water or placed in a dishwasher — wipe these with a soft, slightly damp cloth only.
Press the power button to cycle up through temperatures from 30°C to a maximum of 80°C — you'll feel warmth building under the box as soon as a setting is chosen. Long-press the power button to switch the unit off. To set a timer, long-press the three-line icon; it cycles through 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 minutes, plus a 4-hour option. A countdown is shown on-screen for the 30–180 minute range (a countdown display for the 4-hour option is coming in a future software update). The battery indicator shows charge in 25% steps: 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.
No — the interior is a single stainless steel tray rather than divided compartments. This keeps the tray easier to clean and lets heat spread evenly across everything inside.
WarmByte is recommended for ages 7 and up. Since the product involves heating elements and a control panel, we recommend adult supervision for younger children.
